If you're going to steal a car, don't be stupid.
Not that we recommend stealing cars, naturally.
But it might be a good idea to make sure you know how to drive the the car you're planning to steal.
That's the lesson presumably learned on Tuesday night by three men, one of them said to be carrying a knife, who allegedly rushed a food-delivery man as he dropped off an order in Springfield, Massachusetts.
The story was reported by The Republican newspaper of Springfield.
According to an aide to the local Police Commissioner, the trio ordered the man out of his car and demanded that he hand over not only his car keys but also the food delivery.
Jumping into the car, the would-be thieves then discovered that it had a manual transmission.
Which, it appears, none of them knew how to operate.
After arguing among themselves, the alleged thieves ran off down the street--taking the food with them.
The incident remains under investigation.
