The new iBeetle includes an iPhone docking station, integrated into the dashboard. The iPhone snaps in place, allowing almost all of the phone's functions to be used directly in the iBeetle, including hands-free calling, navigation, music, etc.
Also included is an app that wraps together the functions of Spotify (a music streaming and sharing service), advanced on-board instrumentation, gas-mileage trainer, text-to-speech message reader (compatible with Facebook and text messages), photos, and more.
While many carmakers have cradles for the iPhone and some form of app integration, the iBeetle experience should be a good one--perhaps better than the rest--as it is among the first to have a fully integrated solution co-developed with Apple.
Other features of the iBeetle include 18-inch "Disc" alloy wheels in Galvano Grey with chrome wheel covers; Galvano Grey side mirrors and trim panels; black door sill plates with iBeetle signature; and chrome iBeetle badges on the front fender.
Playing off the iPhone's monochromatic color scheme, the iBeetle is available in "Candy White", "Oryx White Mother of Pearl Effect", "Black Monochrome", "Deep Black Pearl Effect", "Platinum Grey", or "Reflex Silver". Inside, the iBeetle gets steering wheel and dash accents in Galvano Grey, a custom shift lever grip, black sport seats in Vienna leather, and "Ceramique"-colored contrasting seams.
The iBeetle launches in early 2014.
