Rolls-Royce started sales of its first electric vehicle last year in the form of the Spectre coupe. It has proven to be a huge hit, with order books already filled through 2025 prior to the start of production a year ago.
Rolls-Royce doesn't plan to rest on its laurels, though. According to Automotive News (subscription required), the automaker is already developing two more EVs, a sedan and an SUV.
The news isn't a huge surprise as Rolls-Royce during 2022's reveal of the Spectre already announced plans to exclusively sell EVs by the end of 2030, though more and more automakers that made similar pledges have since backtracked due to slower than expected growth in EV demand, and Rolls-Royce may as well.
According to Automotive News, Rolls-Royce will launch the electric SUV in early 2027. It will reportedly be smaller than the current Cullinan but still sit in the full-size category.
The sedan will reportedly arrive in late 2028 and replace the Phantom.
It isn't clear whether the new EVs will adopt a dedicated EV platform or use Rolls-Royce's current aluminum space-frame architecture which underpins the automaker's gas models as well as the Spectre. However, it's likely the vehicles will have significantly more range than the 264-mile Spectre, due to advancements in battery technology. Parent company BMW Group will soon launch a new generation of BMW EVs which will deliver a range improvement of 30% thanks to new batteries with cylindrical cells (instead of the current prismatic cells).
Before its new EVs arrive, Rolls-Royce is expected to launch a Black Badge performance version of the Spectre next year, and give the electric coupe a mid-cycle refresh in 2027.
