Ford has issued a recall of its latest Mustang because the rear suspension knuckles may fail, something that could lead to a loss of vehicle control.
The recall only affects certain 2024 Mustangs built between July 25, 2023, and Sept. 15, 2023. A total of 4,595 examples are affected in the U.S.
According to the recall notice published by the NHTSA on Aug. 9 (recall campaign number 24V593000), the issue relates to the casting process of the affected vehicles' rear suspension knuckles. Some debris may have entered the casting molds and weakened the component, causing it to potentially fracture over time.
Ford became aware of the issue in June after receiving warranty claims for fractured rear suspension knuckles on at least two vehicles. The automaker said it isn't aware of any crashes or injuries related to the issue.
The remedy requires a dealer to inspect and replace the rear suspension knuckles, a service that will be performed free of charge.
Affected owners will be notified by mail from Aug. 26. Anyone looking for further information can contact Ford at 1-866-436-7332 or visit the automaker's recall page.
