Rolls-Royce is ready to build highly personalized examples of its debut electric vehicle, the 2024 Spectre coupe. As a taste of what's possible, the automaker will present a one-off example at 2024 Monterey Car Week.
Set to debut on Aug. 16 at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, one of the main events of Monterey Car Week, the Rolls-Royce Spectre Semaphore is a private commission that introduces a unique graphic for the hood that was inspired by California's coastline. And its Semaphore name means a system of visual signaling, typically with flags, though the term is also used in coding.
Rolls-Royce calls the hood graphic Marbled Paint Spill, and said applying it took 160 hours to complete, including the time spent on the design, development, and eventual application. It consists of silver lacquer over the base yellow paint, and then multiple layers of clearcoat for a seamless finish.
The same colors flow into the cabin, where they are joined by a cream hue. Rolls-Royce also includes some of the colors in the digital gauge cluster and on some of the wood accents.

Rolls-Royce said only the one Spectre Semaphore will be built. The automaker didn't mention how much the car cost its owner, but if you're wondering, it's probably way more than you can afford. The regular Spectre starts at about $422,750.
Like all Spectres, the Spectre Semaphore features a dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain delivering a maximum 584 hp. It has a usable 102 kwh of battery capacity and an EPA range estimate of up to 291 miles.
