Looking for sensible performance? Volvo could make your decision a little easier by offering a hefty discount worth up to $7,500 off of its sport-oriented S60 and V60 Polestar models.
Don't go into your local Volvo dealer looking for great deals on the updated 2017 S60 and V60 Polestar, which utilize more powerful (but smaller) engines. Instead, the clearance deals are on leftover 2016s to make room for the new models on dealer lots.

Here's the breakdown of how to work up to $7,500 in factory rebates, according to Cars Direct:
- $3,000 rebate for all 2016 versions of the V60 and $1,500 for all versions of the S60, which can be combined with:
- $5,000 additional rebate for S60 Polestar sedan or
- $3,000 additional rebate for V60 Polestar wagon
- On top of that, owners of a rival brand are eligible for a $1,000 "conquest" rebate.
That works out to $7,500 for an S60 Polestar or $7,000 for a V60 Polestar. To qualify for the conquest rebate, buyers need to have a model from one of the following manufacturers in their garage: Acura, Audi, BMW, Cadillac, Infiniti, Lexus, Lincoln, Mercedes-Benz, Ford, Honda, Nissan, Subaru, Toyota, or Volkswagen.
There's also a $1,000 "loyalty" bonus for current Volvo or Saab owners, but that doesn't appear to be combinable with the conquest rebate.
Those particular deals are for buyers in Southern California, but other regions have similar rebates right now.
