Chevrolet is offering current Corvette owners a big rebate off the list price of a brand new 2016 model.
According to an official bulletin obtained by Cars Direct, if you currently own or lease a Corvette, you will qualify for a $2,000 discount off the list price of a new Corvette. The offer applies to all Corvettes except the range-topping Z06. Current owners don't need to trade in their Corvettes on a new one.

Additionally, the fine print indicates that having any Corvette, from a rare 1953 to a 25-year-old beater, qualifies the owner for the discount. The offer is good through the end of May.
Such discounts are generally rare on the Corvette.
The discount brings the cheapest Corvette Stingray to $54,395, including the mandatory destination charge, before any negotiating with a dealer. Buyers may also be able to qualify for additional discounts, like an employee purchase program or special pricing extended to the automaker's numerous suppliers.

The discount likely comes in response to mounting dealer supply of Corvettes ahead of the traditionally strong summer selling season.
Corvette sales are off nearly 21 percent through the first third of 2016, though they were only down about 10 percent last month. Chevrolet has sold 9,512 Corvettes in the United States as of April 30. That number doesn't include fleet sales, but they are likely minimal.
