Most will be familiar with the idea of a tornado and the devastation one can cause.
However, few are likely to have ever seen one in person.
Now here’s something we’re betting almost no one has seen: the actual base of a tornado.
This video from AccuWeather was taken by a couple of storm chasers brave enough to drive right up to a half-mile-wide twister that touched down in Wray, Colorado on Saturday. Incredibly, they weren’t alone in their crazy quest as a handful of vehicles can be seen in the video, with some proceeding ever closer.
According to authorities, at least five people were injured and some buildings and power lines damaged by this and other storms in eastern Colorado over the weekend.
