BMW has boosted battery capacity of its i3 electric car to help counter impending arrivals such as the Chevrolet Bolt EV and Tesla Motors [NSDQ:TSLA] Model 3, both of which promise significantly more range at a lower price. BMW claims its updated i3 will now cover 114 miles.

Audi has confirmed its new A5 coupe will be revealed on June 2.  The car is due here early next year and will be followed shortly by the A5 Cabriolet as well as a new A5 Sportback.

BMW has reportedly shown a quad-turbocharged diesel engine. The new engine, which is expected to initially be offered in the 7-Series in markets outside the United States, will join cars like the Bugatti Veyron and new Chiron in the exclusive league of quad-turbo production cars.
