DS, the new luxury brand of French auto giant PSA Group (formerly PSA Peugeot Citroën), used this week’s 2016 Beijing Auto Show to launch its latest model.
The car is a compact hatch not much bigger than DS’s first model, the DS 3.
It’s been developed exclusively for the Chinese market where DS also sells the DS 5, DS 5LS and DS 6WR.
In the longer term, PSA hopes to see DS have a global footprint and that means selling cars in the United States. Recently, the French automaker outlined its plans for returning to these shores.

But getting back to the DS 4S, it will be offered with a choice of three gasoline engines whose outputs range from 136 to 204 horsepower. All cars will come with a 6-speed automatic transmission and drive going to the front wheels.
Moving inside, the dashboard and door panels are covered in high-grade leather and the seats feature a watchstrap-style pattern for their trim. There is also an infotainment system that integrates navigation, safety and communication functions.
