The new generation of hybrid hypercars, the Ferrari LaFerrari, McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder, have been with us for almost a year but we’re yet to see anyone who’s compared and contrasted all three. We’ve driven the Porsche 918 Spyder, but are yet to get behind the wheel of the LaFerrari and P1. However, serial supercar spotter Shmee150 has managed to get up close and personal with all three cars over a five-day period and has laid out the advantages and disadvantages of each in this video roundup. We won’t spoil the result for you, so you’ll have to watch to find out how each compares.

It’s important to note that despite all three being mid-engined supercars with hybrid drivetrains, the designers behind each have gone about implementing the technology in very different ways. The LaFerrari sticks with a big V-12 and doesn’t offer an electric mode; the P1 adopts turbochargers and only has a short driving range in electric mode; and finally the 918 Spyder is all-wheel-drive thanks to an electric motor powering its front axle.
