Cadillac has issued a recall on certain versions of its XTS luxury sedan because of a problem that could lead to a fire. The recall affects both 2013 and 2014 model XTS sedans, but only those manufactured from February 14, 2012 through March 7, 2014. Cadillac says there are 63,903 affected vehicles in the U.S. alone.

According to the automaker, a cavity plug on the brake booster pump connector may end up dislodging. This would allow a relay in the brake booster pump connector to corrode, and in turn cause a resistive short that could end up melting the connector or possibly start a fire.
Cadillac is in the process of notifying owners affected by the latest recall. The remedy requires dealers to apply sealant to the connector cavity plugs, re-route the vacuum pump vent hose and replace the front body wiring harnesses, a service they will offer free of charge.
