The new Fusion is also a star when it comes to environmental consciousness, with potential buyers being able to pick from three different types of powertrains--gas, hybrid or plug-in hybrid--that are all either class-leading or near the top when it comes to fuel efficiency.
On top of that, buyers will also be able to choose from front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive applications, as well as the choice of automatic or manually shifted six-speed transmissions.
Note, the rest of the world will see the Fusion land as the replacement for the Mondeo, which like the current model will also come with a frugal turbodiesel option.
Look out for the car in showrooms this fall, while overseas buyers will have to wait until next year for the new Mondeo to arrive.
