We saw it at the 2011 New York Auto Show and earlier this week we got to drive it, now we know how much it will cost. We’re talking about, of course, the new 2012 Chrysler 300 SRT8, which charges into showrooms in the third quarter of the year priced from $47,995.
That $47,995 may seem steep but it gets you a luxury accommodated rear-wheel drive sedan packing a 6.4-liter Hemi V-8 that’s good for 465 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque. Yes, it’ll take you and four of your friends from 0-60 mph in less than 5.0 seconds and go on to reach 175 mph.
For this kind of performance some automakers will charge you nearly double the price of the Chrysler 300 SRT8 but the story doesn’t end there.
You also get fuel-saving cylinder deactivation technology, an active exhaust system, adaptive suspension damping, Brembo brakes, 20-inch forged aluminum wheels, Chrysler’s Uconnect interface system and 8.4 inch touchscreen display, and even a day's worth of instruction at one of the Richard Petty Racing Schools across the country.
Not bad for under 50 grand.
