Infiniti is fully cashing in on its sponsorship deal with the championship-leading Red Bull Racing Formula 1 team and its star driver Sebastian Vettel. Today the automaker announced that 23-year old Vettel will be its first ever Global Brand Ambassador, with the German youngster set to take an active role in raising the profile of the Infiniti brand and its products during race weekends and at selected events linked to Infiniti’s business and product programs.

Like many in the Red Bull Racing team, Vettel has been driving products from the Infiniti range, both as his personal car but also at the different races around the world. We’ve already seen the first of this with Vettel completing a few hot laps in a pair of Infinitis, a G37 Sedan and FX50 SUV, just prior to the 2011 Chinese Grand Prix in Shanghai.

Commenting on his new global role, Sebastian Vettel said: “Since our first contact with Infiniti I liked their cars. A car can impress you in two ways: its looks and its handling. After I had the chance to test some cars in the range I became a big fan. They are comfortable as well as sporty when you ask for it. I am sure we as a team and myself can benefit a lot from the experience of Infiniti and I am very much looking forward to our partnership in the future.”

The synergies between Infiniti and Red Bull Racing don’t end just with its star driver. Engineers from Red Bull Racing are believed to be helping Infiniti enhance its road cars with an aim to deliver a special, high-performance model within the next 24 months.

In return, Infiniti, more specifically Infiniti’s parent company Nissan, will be supplying the Red Bull Racing team with its battery technology and expertise to help the team improve its Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS), which so far this year has been plagued with bugs.
