Most readers would recognize the Goodwood name as either being the home of the Goodwood Festival of Speed, an annual event in the UK that draws the latest in supercars and British motorsport personalities, or the home of luxury automaker Rolls-Royce.

Soon the Goodwood name may be recognized for another reason as according to a new report MINI is looking to use the name to mark a new range of bespoke customized models. Like the current John Cooper Works (JCW) performance branding for MINI, the Goodwood name would serve as the luxury branding.

According to an inside source, the MINI Inspired by Goodwood unveiled last month at the 2011 Shanghai Auto Show was just a preview of what’s to come and that its unveiling in China reflects the likely importance of the market for the new premium MINI brand.

Some special treatments we may see launched under the Goodwood brand are unique trim options, such as carpeted surfaces, special leather seats and real metal detailing, as well as exclusive paint schemes and even some unique infotainment packages.

As for the actual MINI Inspired by Goodwood, it is to be built in a limited run of 1,000 units and will set buyers  back around $70,000. No word if any of the cars will be sold locally.
