Ever since the new Jeep Grand Cherokee was in development, we've been looking forward to the new 6.4-liter HEMI Grand Cherokee SRT8, and finally, it's here. The muscle-bound powerhouse SUV packs the latest of Chrysler's V-8 bounty under the hood, and the best of the ill-gotten Daimler remnants elsewhere.

If you can handle it, the SRT8 Grand Cherokee is good for 465 horsepower. If you can't, apply for an AARP card. Zero to 60 mph times are a scant 4.8 seconds, with the top speed at 155 mph--electronically limited, we guess.
Inside, you'll get a healthy dose of the standard Grand Cherokee's very fine fitments, plus a salting of SRT8 badges and trim. Steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters, an adaptive suspension, and, naturally, all-wheel drive, match with an adjustable transmission/traction control system that offers Auto, Sport, Track, Tow, and Snow options.
No nancy-pants all-wheel drive systems need apply here: the Grand Cherokee SRT8's 465 horses can all be routed to a single wheel--any wheel--as needed, and divvied up and spread around elsewhere with essentially limitless ease.
Slap on some 20-inch wheels, Brembo brakes, some unique exterior bits, and a lux-spec interior, not to mention a 5,000-pound tow rating, and you have the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee in a nutshell. But you already knew it would be awesome. Now it's official.
