We got a pretty good indication as to how the next-generation 2013 Audi A3--the new Sedan variant, at least--will be styled with the unveiling of the A3 Sedan Concept at last month’s 2011 Geneva Motor Show. Now, Audi has released several teaser sketches of the production version, this time of both the Sedan and Hatchback variants.
The sketches reveal typical Audi design language of sporty elegance, integrating the now familiar single-frame grille with its tapered upper corners and headlights. With the interior sketch, we can clearly see a new MMI controller and sporty flat-bottomed steering wheel. The lack of a display screen also means that we can expect a pop-up monitor located in the dash.
Overall measurements for the new A3 should come in at around 14-15 feet in length, 6.0 feet in width and just under 5.0 feet in height. Its underpinnings will once again be shared with the Volkwagen Golf, which means Audi’s latest modular platform design has been ruled out.
The 2013 Audi A3 is on track for its sales debut in the second half of next year, most likely following a world debut at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show next March. With this next-generation model, you can expect several new variants including hybrid and all-electric ‘e-tron’ models, the latter of which is already testing as prototypes under the shell of the current model.
