2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392
We've already brought you the details on the upcoming 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8, but now we have confirmation from Chrysler on the final numbers.
Now dubbed SRT8 392, the top-line Challenger will be powered by a 6.4-liter V-8 that makes 470 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. That's an improvement of 45 horsepower and 90 lb-ft of torque over last year's 6.1-liter Hemi V-8.
There are also suspension improvements, such as more negative camber at all four tires, SRT-tuned springs and shocks, and an upgrade to the heavy-duty hydraulic steering pump. Chrysler is claiming these changes will give the Challenger a lateral acceleration number of .93G.
The first 1,492 2011 Challenger SRT8 392s to be sold will be Inaugural Edition models, available in either Deep Water Blue or Bright White Clear Coat exterior paint with an array of stripe options. Twenty-inch wheels will be standard. There will be unique badging and an updated front chin spoiler. The interior of Inaugural Editions will be available with white leather with blue accents and stitching. Serialized plaques will mark the number of the car.
The 470 horsepower puts the SRT8 ahead of the 412 horsepower Mustang GT and the 426 ponies in the Chevrolet Camaro SS.
The car will begin arriving in showrooms by the end of 2010.
