2011 Ford Mustang GT 5.0
Venerable consumer publication Consumer Reports has stacked the current Ford Mustang against the current Chevrolet Camaro in a head-to-head match-up of V-6 models, and the Mustang has won.
Anyone following car-magazine comparison review trends won't be surprised by the result. The Mustang has been out-dueling the Camaro and Dodge Challenger in just about every test it has been put through, whether with V-6 or V-8 power.
In Consumer Reports case, the V-6 Mustang beat the V-6 Camaro in a head-to-head match-up because, according to the mag, the Mustang didn't lose its "fun factor" with the V-6, while the heavier Camaro did. The magazine also said that the Mustang was better than the sum of its parts, which it couldn't say about the Camaro.
The 2011 Mustang has been cleaning up against its worthy rivals. It's unlikely that Chevrolet and Dodge will let this pass unnoticed. Pony car wars are fun, huh?
