The Monterey classics weekend is on, and this morning, we're live from Laguna Seca to show you the first live photos of the 2012 Ford Mustang 302 BOSS Laguna Seca to go with our full preview of the 302 BOSS you've seen earlier today.
It's a long name, one associated with a long history of racing--and this morning, racing legend Parnelli Jones was on hand with Ford as they showed off a trio of BOSS Mustangs, patterned after the ones Jones raced in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
This Mustang's a little different from those machines, though. From the stock Mustang GT hardware, the BOSS breathes better and manages its fuel-to-fun process better than the GT. The result: 440 horsepower, up from 412 hp, and a barely-legal exhaust note to accompany it.
The adjustable shocks on the BOSS can be tweaked by hand for optimized racing performance, and upgrades all around beneath the skin--steering, brakes, and updates to the 'Stang's stability-control system--are said to complement the Mustang's newfound top speed of 155 mph.
We'll be covering the classics and the newbies all weekend from the Monterey peninsula. Stay tuned later for more from The Quail motorsports gathering, from Infiniti, and McLaren. For now, savor these live shots of the 302 BOSS in Kona blue and Competition orange.
