Portugal’s Auto Museum of Maia and the Center for Excellence and Innovation in the Industry Automobile (CEIIA) have created the Project Vinci GT concept, which it will present at the Matosinhos Retro Auto Show later this month. Though the car is still in the design phase, the team is set on having a prototype ready by the show’s deadline.

The project is being entirely developed in Portugal with design that’s inspired by the racing cars of the 60’s and 70’s. Mechanically, the car will be very modern and is being designed with the most advanced auto technology. The objective of the project is to showcase the talents and capabilities of the Portuguese car industry, and the team hopes the Vinci will be Portugal on the list of countries as a center for future car development.

Roughly 3 million euros have been spent in total on the project, which is expected to give birth to 50 units of the vehicle only. The Vinci will be powered by a high-revving V6 engine and should develop in excess of 300hp. The first production version is expected to be built within four months with the other 49 ensuing cars being built over 2 years.
