In a surprise move, Jeremy Clarkson shared the sale of his 2008 Mercedes Benz CLK63 AMG Black Series with Twitter followers on Monday. Clarkson tweeted, "Sad day, I just sold my AMG black." Thousands of people responded including Richard Hammond who stated, "to be fair, it'll be a sadder day for the poor bugger who bought it."

Many of Clarkson's Twitter followers were equally as sad while others questioned whether he had financial issues. Rest assured, Clarkson is well off and surely will replace it with something just as interesting. His time with the car had its highs and lows. He praised it in his review for Top Gear but did occasional gripes with it like a dead battery not allowing him to get into the car as he previously shared on Twitter.

The particular CLK63 AMG Black Series sold by Clarkson was just one of 25 with right-hand drive that made it to Britain when it was new.  It has been sold for an undisclosed amount and the new owner surely has something that is very unique. The price is said to have been around £90,000 (approximately $138,500), which is close to what the car cost new when it was launched in 2007.

The car is still very quick and capable even by today's standards. It's powered by a 6.2-liter V-8 that produces 507 horsepower, all of which is put down to the rear wheels through a seven-speed automatic transmission. The curb weight comes in at a beefy 3,920 pounds but it can hold its own and get to 60 mph in about 4 seconds. We wonder what Clarkson will get to replace it...
