Rimac’s electric car is the 1,088-horsepower Concept One, which the company recently announced is entering production in a limited run of just 88 cars.
In case you’re interested in one you’ll have to fork over a staggering $980,000, but what you get in return is one of the most unique cars on the planet.
Fans have been asking Rimac to show off the performance of the Concept One and the company has obliged with a new driving video demonstrating what four electric motors and a combined output of 1,088 horsepower and 2,800 pound-feet of torque can do. This video is only a teaser for an extended clip the company plans to release in the near future.
The Rimac Concept One is powered by a 92kWh liquid-cooled battery array capable of carrying the car a distance of 372 miles on a single charge. Each of the car’s four electric motors can be driven independently and rely on sophisticated software to control them. Other performance metrics include a 0-60 mph time of just 2.8 seconds and a top speed in excess of 190 mph.
The idea behind the project came about when Rimac founder Mate Rimac decided to convert an old BMW into an electric race car. Suffice it to say, he was immediately sold on the performance of electric drive. Today, Rimac develops high performance electric car technology including drivetrains and battery systems for sale to other firms.
We’ll keep you updated as development of the Rimac Concept One continues, and stay tuned for the extended version of this teaser video.
